Your library’s LibPress website consists of a Home Page with several features. Links will bring your site visitors to ‘inner pages’ that also consist of several features.

LibPress Terminology

Centralized Content – Also known as “Shared Content, these are pages and other content hosted by LibPress.

  • Examples include: Information by Subject, “How to” guides, etc.
  • This feature allows all LibPress libraries to have extensive information without having to create it–but if you notice that something is out-of-date, please let us know.

Centralized Graphics – Also known as Shared Media, these are images that are hosted by LibPress that can be used at any time by a LibPress library.

  • Examples are Slides used in Slideshows (see below), that advertise new features from BCLC Licensing, or a Sitka update.

Dashboard – Where a site manager lands after logging in, or the administrative page to maintain a LibPress website.

Footer – The bottom section of the website that appears on every page of a LibPress website. It includes Library Hours, Location Map, Contact Information, a Site Map, social media icons and Terms of Use.

Highlight – Three columns or boxes appear under the home page slideshow. These are referred to as Highlights and offer spaces for libraries to add custom text and images to promote various programs, services or events.

Media – All images, graphics and PDF files that are uploaded to a LibPress websites are collectively referred to as Media. Make sure to maintain this area and delete old content to keep the website storage low.

Mega Menu – The navigation menu that appears on every page of the website. It organizes content on the website and provides a drop-down menu.

Pages – Most of the content in LibPress is stored in Pages. Top-level Pages (or Parent Pages) are typically listed in the Navigation menu.

Posts – A post is a single entry within the Blog. You can add and delete posts at any time via the Dashboard.

Site Map – A site map is included in the footer of the website and displays a hierarchical view of website content–this is optional.

Shortcode – A snippet of code that appears in square brackets. You will come across these in the Edit view of pages that display  centralized content in the public view of the page.

  • For example, [coop-nsm-shared-text id="1170"] is replaced by the “Teens Homework: Writing a Bibliography”.

Slideshow – The homepage includes a large rotating slideshow that can be used to promote events, programs or services. Libraries can add default slides provided by the Co-op or upload their own custom slides. See the section about creating slideshow banners.

Widget – On all pages within the LibPress website (excluding the home page), a column exists on the right-hand side of the page in which libraries can add up to three boxes of information. These boxes are referred to as Inner Page Widgets and can contain custom text, links and/or images to promote various programs, services or events. To find these, filter under Pages with “infotile” as a category.
