3rd party products can be integrated with Evergreen. We recommend making sure you know what 3rd party products your library subscribes to and which ones interact with Evergreen.
If you are looking to add new products that will need to integrate with Evergreen please ensure you contact Co-op Support BEFORE making your purchase. We need to ensure that the product can be integrated with Sitka’s Evergreen and that it meets privacy and security legislation requirements for our members and their users.
Annual Statistics
Statistics for e-resources are not captured in Sitka’s Evergreen as the check out happens via the vendor. Make sure you know what statistics you will need and who to contact for them.
Matomo Statistics
Matomo is used to track visits to your Evergreen public catalogue. This information is included in the annual statistics prepared for BC public libraries. Other libraries can request these statistics be sent to them.
Authentication
3rd party products that require authentication against Sitka’s Evergreen use SIP2, PatronAPI, or EZproxy. The SIP2 protocol is old and insecure and is being phased out by the BC Libraries Cooperative.
We recommend making sure you know which products authenticate against Evergreen and which ones use alternate methods like barcode pattern matching so you can contact the appropriate people for help if authentication stops working.
The products that currently authenticate against Sitka’s Evergreen include:
- Databases such as EBSCO via EZproxy
- fILL
- Freegal
- Hoopla
- Kanopy
- Lynda
- NNELS
- Overdrive
- PC Reservations
- Presss Reader
- Self Check machines
- Bibliotecha
- meeScan
- Sentry
- Userful
Record Loading
Co-op Support loads enhanced on order MARC records, full MARC records, and e-resource MARC records. These records generally include a 9XX field with item information or a 856 with a URL to the e-resource.
Make sure you know if records are loaded for your library and if so what the process is for supplying those records to Co-op Support. Some records files are sent to us directly by the vendor while other files get passed onto us by the library.
Record Exporting
Some 3rd party services like BC’s union catalogue Illume and EBSCO’s discovery layer require your records to be exported and sent to them. Co-op Support handles these exports for you.
Patron Loading
If you work at an academic institution Co-op Support likely loads patron files for you. Make sure you know who at your institution supplies you with the files to send to us and how to send them in.
Discovery Layers and the Catalogue
Sitka’s Evergreen is currently integrated with 3 discovery layers – Bibliocommons, EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS), and Summon.
If you are looking at getting a discover layer please contact Co-op Support to ensure that the product can be integrated with Sitka’s Evergreen and to discuss the timeline as technical support from the Sitka team will be required for set up.
Novelist Select is integrated into the Evergreen catalogue for libraries subscribed to that product.
LibPress
If your library subscribes to LibPress for your website Evergreen will be integrated with it in several ways including the catalogue search box, patron oriented catalogue help documentation, book carousel, and shared content related to Sitka’s Evergreen.
