2.2. Hours of Operation

Single Branch Libraries

Hours are automatically populated at the top of your website in the Brief Hours Header section and in the Footer.

To update your hours in the Header & Footer:

  1. Log into the Dashboard administration screen.
  2. Hover over the Site Manager tab in the left column and click on Hours of Operation.
  3. Enter your opening and closing hours–you can enter split hours in case your library closes temporarily during the day. For days that you’re closed, click the check box under Not Open.
  4. You can also add a note for exceptions, such as: Closed for all stat holidays (Must be less than 40 characters)
  5. Click Save Changes.

Check your Contact Us page to see if your hours are listed there. To update:

  1. In your Dashboard, click the Pages tab on the left side of your screen.
  2. In the right-hand search box, search for: contact us.
  3. In the list of resulting pages, click on Contact Us.
  4. Update your hours information and click Update.

For temporary closures (e.g. a holiday or planned power outage, etc.), it’s best not to change the hours in the Header or Footer. Instead, add a section to your Contact Us page about Holiday or Temporary Closures in addition to your regular hours; or, create a short blog post described the reason, dates and times for the closure. Also, you can create a slide or include this information in the highlights of your main page.

Hours for different branches are usually found in the Footer and the Contact Us page.

To update your hours in the Footer:

  1. Log into the Dashboard administration screen.
  2. Click on the Posts tab in the left column.
  3. Click on the Branch Hours or Hours of Operation post.
  4. Enter your opening and closing hours.
  5. Click Update.

Check your Contact Us page to see if your hours are listed there. To update:

  1. On the public side of the website, navigate to the Contact Us page containing the hours.
  2. Click Edit Page at the top of the screen.
  3. Update your hours information and click Update.

For temporary closures (e.g. a holiday or planned power outage, etc.), we recommend you do not alter the hours shown on your website. Instead, create a short blog post described the reason, dates and times for the closure. Then, add a text slide to your Home Page Slideshow that briefly describes the closure and links back to your blog post. Don’t forget to remove the slide following the temporary closure.
